Aims

To manage data from Cancer Registries and to coordinate the data flow (data exchange) between WPs and to define the model for spatial analysis on cancer incidence data

Tasks

  • A survey directed to European Cancer Registries is prepared, with the aims of a) identifying the Cancer Registries interested to participate in the action and b) collecting information on relevant data availability in the Cancer Registries, with the aid of the European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR). A preliminary survey was sent during the writing phase of the project, to a large Cancer Registries sub-group
  • Writing of data collection protocols linked with the production of breast incidence maps. The protocols have a double aim: to describe data collection and to prepare the material for the Ethical Committee approval
  • The protocols are sent to the INT Independent Ethical Committee and where necessary also to the local ethical committees according to any Cancer Registry’s requirements
  • After the Ethical Committee approval, data collection is opened
  • Regarding confounders different from deprivation indexes (see WP5), availability on adherence to screening is investigated (through scientific literature search, online website search, direct contacts with national statistic offices, screening registries, Cancer Registries)
  • Preparation of a report on the model designed and validated for incidence rates maps. This report uses information coming from the survey to the Cancer Registries, as well as from the activities conducted in WP4, WP5 and WP6
  • Coordination (and linkage where necessary) of data on deprivation indexes coming from WP5 and environmental data defined in WP7. All data collected are systematically included in the open source software chosen by WP6
